Commitment Ceremonies
It’s no honor to be heterosexual, no sin to be homosexual.
It’s just who we are.

Offbeat Ceremonies can create a Different Rite for you that will seal you with a kiss in love and harmony.
The wedding you’re having when you’re not having a wedding.
Commitment celebrations, like weddings and vow renewals, tell your community that you are in your relationship for the long haul. Unlike a wedding, a commitment celebration has no status in law — you are not married if you have a commitment celebration.
If you are queer or GLBTI and can’t or don’t want to get married, a commitment celebration might be for you.
Commitment celebrations also suit hetro couples who may not want the legality of marriage but still want to make a formal commitment to each other in the presence of friends, family and community.
Your Commitment Ceremony celebrates your love for each other, acknowledges your union and involves family and community to celebrate with you.
I’ve been in a long term same sex relationship of over 12 years. We celebrated our union 10 years ago; we are very happily “married” and I can vouch for the estate.
I am a member of the GLBTI network and create commitment ceremonies that celebrate your unique relationship and your diversity. Find out more about me.
In Australia GLBTI couples cannot legally marry, in fact the Australian Marriage law was changed to specifically prevent it. Last year Canberra made it possible for GLBTI partners to have a civil union and this is a great step in the right direction. Hopefully this will set a precedent, but while the political process is painfully slow, we can make huge strides on a spiritual level by acknowledging our same-sex partnerships in ceremony.
Gathering together in ritual with friends and family who offer love and blessings is an act that harnesses huge amounts of energy and leads to subtle changes in the rigid structures of the material world. A ceremony that publicly declares your intent and commitment is extremely powerful, both socially and spiritually.
